Gaited Breeds

Below is a little bit about the most popular Gaited Horse Breeds. There are others, many crosses, offshoots of main registries, and new ones coming up all the time. As with any type or breed of horse, proper training and handling brings out the desired temperament and attributes of a horse, while improper, or cruel training or treatment, can turn even the most gentle horse into a basket case. The descriptions of these breeds are what they are over all known for, however, it is important to be sure and check the horse, as well as the people and environment the horse is coming from, before you purchase!! Please browse through, and feel free to contact us with any questions you have!

Spotted Saddle Horse
The Spotted Saddle Horse is registered one of two ways. They can either be registered due to having registered SSH parents, or they can be registered if they have the correct markings, and exhibit and obvious gait. No trotting horses can be registered this way. Due to this, there is a mixture of actual breeds among the SSH world, so they can exhibit traits, height, and build from all aspects of Gaited horses. Spotted Saddle Horses range in height from 14 to 17 hands. More at... NSSHA or SSHBEA

Properly trained Rockies are known for having puppy dog personalities, and no nonsense, calm personalities.
